About the Role & Grad2Teach Programme
This Graduate Trainee French Teacher placement is part of the Grad2Teach salaried initial teacher training programme, designed to provide a supported, experience-led route into teaching while you work towards your PGCE and QTS.
You will:

Begin as a Graduate Teaching Assistant within the MFL department, supporting French lessons and engaging students across Key Stages 3 to 5

Progress through a two-phase training model that gradually increases responsibility and teaching practice

Complete a PGCE with QTS through our university partner, Coventry University

Earn a salary while training—with no tuition fees required

Receive ongoing mentorship, peer support, and access to a blended training model aligned with the Teaching Standards and Core Content Framework
Phase 1: Observe experienced teachers, assist in lesson delivery, and support pupil progress
Phase 2: Teach independently (up to 18 hours/week) while completing PGCE assessments

Candidate Requirements
We are looking for candidates who:

Hold a UK bachelor’s degree, ideally in French, Modern Languages, or a related field

Are enthusiastic about language learning and secondary education

Show resilience, a growth mindset, and a willingness to learn

Hold (or are working towards) GCSEs in English and Maths (some flexibility may apply during Phase 1)
