About the Role & Grad2Teach Programme

This Graduate Trainee PE Teacher placement forms part of the Grad2Teach salaried initial teacher training programme. You’ll begin your journey supporting PE lessons across key stages before transitioning into a full teaching role while earning a salary and studying for your PGCE with QTS.

With Grad2Teach, you will:

  • Start in a Graduate Teaching Assistant role, supporting PE delivery and extracurricular activities

  • Progress through our two-phase training model, building confidence and teaching capability

  • Complete a PGCE with QTS through Coventry University

  • Earn a salary while training—no need to take on tuition fee debt

  • Receive regular mentoring, collaborative learning, and a blended training programme aligned with the Teaching Standards and Core Content Framework

Phase 1: Support pupils in lessons, work with small groups, and assist in planning and delivery
Phase 2: Take on up to 18 hours of independent teaching per week while completing PGCE assessments

This is an ideal opportunity for sport and fitness graduates looking for a structured, supported route into teaching in a school that values physical education and holistic development.
