About the Role & Grad2Teach Programme
As a Graduate Trainee SEND Teacher, you’ll be part of the Grad2Teach salaried initial teacher training programme, which offers a practical, school-based route into the profession.
You will:

Begin in a supportive SEND role, working one-to-one and with small groups of learners aged 16–19

Progress through our two-phase training model, tailored to SEND contexts

Complete a PGCE with QTS through our university partner, Coventry University

Earn a salary while training, with no upfront tuition fees

Receive expert mentoring and access a blended training curriculum aligned to the Teaching Standards and Core Content Framework
Phase 1: Develop understanding of individual needs, contribute to inclusive classroom practice, and support learning plans
Phase 2: Take on increased responsibility for lesson planning and delivery, teaching up to 18 hours per week while completing PGCE coursework
This pathway offers practical training and a strong foundation for a career in special and inclusive education.
Candidate Requirements
Ideal applicants will:

Hold a UK bachelor’s degree in any subject

Be passionate about SEND and committed to inclusive education

Demonstrate empathy, resilience, and a willingness to learn

Have (or be working towards) GCSEs in English and Maths (some flexibility during Phase 1 may apply)
